Welcome to my personal website! My name is Rinaldo Gagiano, and I am a passionate PhD candidate at RMIT University, working under the guidance of my esteemed supervisors, Haytham Fayek and Jenny Zhang. I am deeply immersed in the field of Computer Science, with a specialisation in Natural Language Processing (NLP). My research revolves around the fascinating domain of detecting neurally generated text. Through innovative approaches and advanced techniques, I strive to contribute to the ongoing advancements in NLP, unravelling the complexities of neural text generation and its impact on various domains. I am excited to share my journey and discoveries with you through this platform.

Education

  • PhD in Computer Science, RMIT University, March 2023

  • MSc in Data Science, RMIT University, July 2020 - May 2022

  • BS in Mathematics, McPherson College, August 2016 - May 2020

About me

Throughout my life, I have embraced a global perspective, living and working in diverse locations including South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia (where I am a citizen), and the USA. In 2020, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from McPherson College, and soon after, I pursued a Master's degree in Data Science at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), where I achieved a High Distinction in 2022.

Over the past four years, I have engaged in a range of data science-related roles, gaining valuable experience and honing my skills. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in Computer Science at RMIT University, with a particular focus on Natural Language Processing. My research centres around the development of cutting-edge algorithms and models for natural language understanding, machine learning, and neural text detection.

My passion for programming has allowed me to become proficient in several programming languages, with Python being one of my specialties. Moreover, I possess hands-on experience in software development for both desktop and mobile platforms.

I am driven by the opportunity to contribute to the field of data science and make a meaningful impact through my work. With my interdisciplinary background and a relentless desire to learn and innovate, I am committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of natural language processing and machine learning.
